How much is the gig economy affected by the coronavirus outbreak?

As governments fear the economic consequences of the coronavirus outbreak, workers have been severely affected with layoffs and cuts. The coronavirus continues to threaten the global economy while the number of infected rise every day. A group that has been hit the hardest across the globe is gig workers. Many have had to quit their gig jobs due to a decrease in demand, as well as their own safety concerns.

Together with the AppJobs Institute, we took a closer look at how COVID-19 has affected gig workers around the world. We asked 1400 gig workers about their financial situations, the job categories they work in, changes in their hours worked and if they are satisfied with the support they received from their gig companies.
